DESCRIPTION:Perth born Rosco McGlashan OAM has driven his rocket powered Aussie Invader to 638mph (1\,026 km/h)\, and is recognised as the The Fastest Aussie on Earth on the Australian Roll of Honour. \nWhen Perth-born Rosco was 12\, the late Donald Campbell visited Australia with his Bluebird turbine powered land speed racer. Rosco was so intent on building and racing a car to go faster than Donald Campbell that he quit school and went working in North West WA. With an age adjustment from 12 to 16\, he managed to fund his ambition with a good wage. \nRosco’s speed achievements are numerous: \n\nRocket Powered World Record Go Kart achieved 253 mph\nAussie Invader 1 Jet Dragster achieved 315 mph\nAussie Invader 2 & 3 Land Speed Record Cars achieved 500mph and 638mph\n(beating Donald Campbell’s World Land Speed Record of 403 mph)\n\nSome of Rosco’s other achievements include: \n\nAwarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1998 by the Queen of England for his services to motorsport and for setting a new Australian Land Speed Record.\nGiven the “Premiers Award”\, Western Australia by the premier of the state Richard Court MLA in 1999.\nGiven the ‘Key to the City’ Perth\, Western Australia by the Premier of the state Richard Court MLA in 1999.\nInternational Jet Dragster Competition Winner 1998\, 1999\, 2001.\nEntered in the Australian Roll of Honour by the Governor General Sir Michael Jefferies in 2001 as “The Fastest Aussie On Earth.”\nConfederation of Australian Motor Sport award 2001.\nRegistered motivational speaker with International Celebrity Management Australia.\nLetters of Endorsement for our project from Australia’s ex-Prime Minister John Howard and Defence Senator Robert Hill.\nIn 2012 Rosco was inducted into the RAC Hall of Fame\, only one of 16 Australians to do so.\n\nFree parking – use the Hyatt’s underground parking (enter from Terrace Rd) and get your ticket validated during check in.
