The Race to Zero Emissions- Is It Achievable?

Net zero emissions is an overall balance between greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere and taken out of the atmosphere. These emissions trap heat in the atmosphere, heating the planet for years and years and years resulting in climate change.

The end goal is to balance the scales again and restore the global climate to pre-climate change levels. To get there, we need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero then repair past harm by drawing down past emissions.

There is much debate whether we can ever hope to achieve Zero Emission. Peter Fitzpatrick will engage in this debate at our next City East Rotary breakfast.

Peter is widely respected and recognized for his leadership of two peak bodies; as the Chief Executive Officer for the legal profession and the motor industry in Western Australia. Prior to this he had a distinguished 20 year military career. In 1997 he was a strategic adviser to the then Prime Minister John Howard. Since then, Peter has been a leader in business and community as a board director, mentor, coach, advisor and advocate across not-for-profit, government and private sectors.
