Improving the dental health of indigenous children
Kimberley Dental Team
City Rotary contributed to the success of the Kimberley Dental Team (KDT), an initiative jointly founded and led by City Rotarian Jan Owen AM.
City Rotary members provided wide ranging professional skills to support KDT in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Perth and Heirisson.
Our Successes
- KDT is the only organization to successfully “Close the Gap” in Aboriginal dental health in the Kimberley, demonstrated by operational statistics and independent research evidence.
- Enabling wide recognition and acclaim for KDT and the unique KDT model, including by governments, the dental industry, universities, corporates, philanthropy and, most importantly, indigenous elders and leaders, communities, schools and service providers in the Kimberley.
- Assisting with the development of an efficient, effective, and financially sustainable organisation.
City Rotary’s contributions include
- Providing professional expertise in the leadership of the KDT Steering Committee, strategic planning, sustainability, risk management, grants, governance, partnerships and relationships, and new opportunities.
