Reflections: A young person’s story of surviving and thriving the challenges of severe stroke

Remember, our events are open to everyone, not just Rotarians! Come along to our beautiful new home at the WACA, network with like-minded people, and learn something new.
When Rocco Turazza had a stroke at the age of eight, he was left unable to communicate apart from by blinking his eyes. After suffering a major bleed on his brain, he spent about eight months in Princess Margaret Hospital, including almost two months in intensive care.
His extraordinary recovery from a condition known as locked-in syndrome — where he was trapped in his body and could not talk — was not due to a miracle but the incredibly hard work put in by Rocco and his therapists.
Rocco has since recovered, and at age 13 was acting in plays at John Curtin College. Rocco is now a young adult pursuing a career in digital marketing.
Please join us to learn about the challenges for young adults with a disability to gain meaningful employment, the concept of post traumatic growth and his support team The Kings Park Warriors.
