Rotary Youth Exchange Panel Discussion

Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) is arguably the best youth exchange program worldwide.

Each year some 9,000 students leave home in either January or July for their 11 month stay in another country where they will be hosted by a Rotary Club and live with 3 – 4 host families. These 15 to 18 year olds are embarking on an adventure way out of their comfort zone.

City Rotary plays a key role in the Rotary Youth Exchange program in Western Australia, with our first outbound student who went to Spain in early 2020.

This year we are hosting an inbound student from Finland, and our outbound student is currently has travelled all the way from the Kimberley to Italy!  It shows you the sheer reach of the program, and the possibilities that can be achieved.

Rotary Youth Exchange provides a year-long opportunity of a lifetime for young people to discover themselves, experience another culture, and be part of Rotary’s aim to foster international goodwill and peace.

To learn more about this life changing project, and how you can be involved, we will be showcasing the program, including a presentation from Matilda Riiali, our inbound student from Finland.  We will also hear from host parents sharing their experiences and involvement in this incredible program.

You will also learn how to become a host family or perhaps there is a student you’d like to recommend be nominated for the program.

We encourage you to bring a friend and network, while learning some interesting and valuable ways that the Rotary Youth Exchange program and City Rotary contributes positively to the Perth landscape.
